The architecture, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, informed by the fluid forms within China’s rich traditions of jade carving, the Morpheus’ design combines dramatic public spaces and generous guest rooms with innovative engineering and formal cohesion.
Drawing from the main design concept, ARTEC’s interpretation of the tradition of jade carvings and the emphasis on Chinese tradition.
Utilized the Diamond and its material characteristics as inspiration of the precious stones’ innate mirror-like surface, with hardened shell and crystalline nature, the duality and intervention represents a merging gesture of East and West.
The expression of the Diamond, reflective and angular cut faces, produces a sparkling micro landmark from the space’s set-out, and at the same time, an intricate maze-like experience when up-close. The journey and the experience becomes an alternation of the ever changing scene-scape and vision.
The hardened upswept slowing surfaces is not only visually curious, but acoustically interesting. The retention of these characteristics is of paramount importance.
“The concept and form is an alternation of level 21’s Yi, but the character is expressed in both differing but united fashion.” Asserts C.Huang of the overall conceptuals and experiences.
The Club Lounge, situated on level 30, is a dramatic gesture and interaction between architectural and interior language, the guests dine among a series of scaled Diamonds, each expressing a particular facet of cut.
