Conceptual design of an opportunity in Hong Kong for a coast-side development, a opportunity for expression and connection within the dense urban landscape of Hong Kong.
The mass was split into two buildings to accommodate a office and administrative program and the other for the main theater spaces.
This allowed for a central main grand pathway towards the coast-side to link the inner walking street to the river-walk with a view towards the main Hong Kong bay area. This link may drive pedestrian traffic through and throughout the venue.
This gallery walk, from elevation view, is layered to re-create the sense of parting curtains as you progress through and out. A fitting gesture for the venue’s program.
The roof area is cut with void openings to for strategic roof top views towards outer bay area, and inwards towards the bustle of the CBD.
The form of the and facade and of the roof are designed to be simple, clean and geometric; purposeful for it’s intent to create stark contrasts to a busier environment. This contrast will provide a strong monolithic visual focal point for viewers where the eyes are clouded by visual clutter and numerous colors and lights of the city.
