The property Deo Units is located on Sichuan North Road, in Hongkou District, Shanghai, close to Suzhou Creek and Tiantong Road Subway Station, and close by is also the Shanghai Postal Museum, Hebin Building. Plotted right in the center of Shanghai City.
It was built in 1935, and has a long history with China and Shanghai city itself. The property was one of the first, to be equipped with mechanical elevators in Shanghai upon it’s construction completion. The building also housed the first troupe of “white collar” class of workers in China.
Famous figures such as Zhang Henshui, Liu Baiyu and other writers lived here.
Thus it was once dubbed the living room of literati. Ba Jin, Yu Dafu and Ye Shengtao also visited this historical legacy.
The location also used to be the triangular business district of Shanghai, with Huaihai Road and Nanjing East Road adjoining.
Many of the last-century buildings along the nearby Suzhou Creek have become check-in points for locals and visitors alike for it’s beautiful architecture.

In 1936, it was the Shanghai Xinyi Pharmaceutical Factory, one of the earliest joint ventures in Chinese history.
The property was listed in the fourth batch of excellent historical buildings by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government in 2005.
